Privacy Policy
Futrad ("we", "us", "our") operates the Futrad website (futrad.com) and the Futrad mobile application (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to the terms below.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Account information
- Name, email address, password (hashed), phone number (optional).
- Profile photo, display name, bio (optional).
- Vendor/verification details if you apply to become a verified seller.
1.2 Content you create
- Listings, photos, descriptions, prices, categories, condition.
- Messages exchanged with other users in chat and trade negotiations.
- Reviews, ratings, reports, bids, and wishes.
1.3 Location data
If you grant the location permission on your device, we collect your approximate or precise GPS coordinates so we can:
- Show nearby listings and rank "Swap Ideas" by distance.
- Auto-fill city/state when you create a listing.
- Display a "Nearby" badge to other users for items close to them.
You may revoke this permission at any time in your device settings. The app will continue to work without it.
1.4 Device and technical data
- Device model, OS version, app version, language, time zone.
- IP address and approximate location derived from it.
- Crash logs and basic usage analytics (page views, feature taps).
1.5 Payment data
Payments for premium features, auction bids, and coin recharges are processed by Razorpay. We do not store your card number, CVV, or UPI PIN. Razorpay returns only a transaction ID, status, and amount, which we store to reconcile the order. Razorpay's privacy policy: razorpay.com/privacy.
1.6 Third-party sign-in
If you link your Steam account to trade Steam inventory items, Steam shares your public Steam ID, profile name, and avatar with us via OpenID. We do not receive your Steam password.

3. Advertising
The mobile app shows ads via Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device's Advertising ID and limited interaction data to serve and measure ads. You can reset or limit your Advertising ID in your device settings (Android: Settings → Google → Ads). Learn more at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
4. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in these cases:
- With other users — your profile, listings, public reviews, and messages you send are visible to the users you interact with.
- With service providers — Razorpay (payments), Hostinger (hosting), Google AdMob (ads), Nominatim / OpenStreetMap (geocoding). Each is bound by their own privacy terms.
- With Steam — only the data needed to verify ownership of Steam items you list.
- For legal reasons — when required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and property.
- In a business transfer — if Futrad is merged or acquired, data may transfer subject to this policy.
5. Data retention
- Account data: kept while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion, except where retention is legally required.
- Messages and trade history: kept for 12 months after the last interaction, then archived.
- Notifications: kept for 30 days, then auto-purged.
- Crash logs and server access logs: kept for 90 days.
6. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (including GDPR and India's DPDP Act 2023), you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data via your profile settings, or by emailing us.
- Delete your account and associated data ("right to be forgotten").
- Withdraw consent for optional data uses (location, marketing).
- Object to certain processing or request data portability.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7. Children
Futrad is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
We use HTTPS for all network traffic, hash passwords with bcrypt, store auth tokens in the Android Keystore (Encrypted Shared Preferences), and restrict database access to authorised personnel. No system is 100% secure; if you suspect a vulnerability, please email security@futrad.com.
9. International transfers
Our servers are hosted in India. If you access the Service from outside India, your data will be transferred to and processed in India under safeguards equivalent to those in your jurisdiction.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via in-app notification or email. Continued use of the Service after the effective date means you accept the revised policy.
